Since 1997, education has been a top priority for the Government. Recognising the need to raise standards at all levels in order to meet the competitive challenges of the 21st century economy, the government has initiated unprecedented change, and sought improved performance at all levels. Current challenges include:
- Improving outcomes for children and young people through implementing integrated and personalised services
- Finding ways to increase access to and success rates from Higher Education
- Building a well educated, motivated workforce to drive the UK's future economic prosperity
Why WCL?
Meeting these changes presents new and exciting challenges for us all. WCL have helped local, regional and national organisations across the education sector to address these challenges and raise standards.
As a result of the work we have done within DCSF and beyond over the last five years, we believe we understand the education sector better than most. Our experience includes working with over 50 policy teams in DCSF in the last 12 months alone, along with high priority areas and projects such as The Children’s Plan; Academies ; Aiming High for Disabled Children (AHDC); Community Cohesion; NEETs Hotspots; The 10 Year Youth Strategy; PSAs 4 and 5; PSA Governance Guidance; Safeguarding; and The Youth Task Force.
In addition we are working at senior levels in a number of other related Non Departmental Public Bodies (NDPBs) and Local Authorities to facilitate cross-government working and make change happen the sector.
