corporate social responsibility

To WCL, corporate responsibility means a commitment to our staff, clients and the communities that we work in, that we will behave in a responsible manner in everything that we do. This includes providing support to a wide range of charities, ensuring we minimise our impact on the environment and being passionately committed to equal opportunities.

Charity giving and volunteering

WCL has proudly given over £100,000 of financial support to numerous local, national and international charities since our inception including Oxfam, NSPCC, Cancer Research, Great Ormond Street Children's Charity, Wooden Spoon and many many more.---->CSR 3

Our employees are also actively encouraged to get involved in charity work and volunteering, providing practical and professional advice and support to a range of charitable organisations as well as fundraising.

Environment

Our environmental policy promotes good practice and sets out the minimum standards for all parts of our business. A number of initiatives are in place to help reduce our impact on the environment including recycling and efforts to reduce our energy usage.

Equality

WCL is proud and passionately committed to equal opportunities and creating a working environment that reflects the diversity of the community within which we live and work. We are also dedicated to ensuring a tolerant and supportive workplace regardless of gender, sexual orientation, heritage, faith, disability or age.

Case study: Sakhumzi, aids orphanage, Cape Town

Sakhumzi is fantastic little aids orphanage just outside Cape Town run by a wonderful woman known to all as Mama Amelia. She is ‘mother’ to around 100 kids aged from 2 weeks to 16 or 17 years.

With money given by WCL Sakhumzi bought a small house to accommodate some of the live-in teachers as well as building a new roof for the main building.
